Based on the information you provide to us; we may inform you of accounts and services from AL Manar. Planning tools

AL Manar provides customers visiting its Web site with a variety of planning tools, such as payments calculator. Information that you enter into one of these planning tools may be stored for your future access and use. We will let you know when we do plan to store information, and we will give you the option not to have this information saved.

Platform for Privacy Preferences (P3P) P3P

The Platform for Privacy Preferences Project has been developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) to help inform Internet users about the information practices of Web sites they visit. Using the P3P standard, a Web site can publish a summary of site privacy practices in machine-readable form. This summary is interpreted by browsers equipped to read P3P summaries. These browsers may then display alerts or block transmission of information to you and/or the Web site if the Web site privacy practices are different from the privacy practices you have selected in your P3P browser.

Only a P3P-enabled browser used on a Web site that publishes a P3P privacy practices summary will let you see these alerts or block certain information from being transmitted.

AL Manar sites use P3P summaries to address our use of cookies, but do not publish a full P3P summary of our privacy policy. However, you can read, print or download the full text of AL Manar Privacy Policy for Consumers online.

Linking to other sites

We may provide links to non-AL Manar sites, such as Kuwait Stock Market or merchants. If you choose to link to Web sites not controlled by AL Manar, we are not responsible for the privacy or security of these sites, including the accuracy, completeness, reliability or suitability of their information. If you are asked to provide information on one of these Web sites, we strongly urge you to carefully study their privacy policies before sharing your information.

When you are leaving AL Manar site, you will be notified that you are leaving the site and that AL Manar cannot guarantee the security of the site you are entering and that the site may have different privacy practices and protections.

E-mail Fraud

E-mail can be used for sending frauds such as a false offer from a company or an alert to a false computer virus. Friends, adding an erroneous level of legitimacy, often forward these e-mails with good intention. If you receive an e-mail that you think could be a fraud, do not forward it and delete it immediately. If you receive an e-mail warning that a new computer virus is circulating, check the Web site of any one of the well-known anti-virus software companies for validation.

Emails such as these are most likely from criminals who send thousands of emails at a time to random addresses. These criminals are trying to entice the recipient to visit a phony website and provide personal and confidential information, such as online IDs and passwords, or Civil ID numbers and account numbers. Although the site may look like a company site, it is not - which is why this practice is known as "spoofing."

To report a suspicious email that uses AL Manar name, you can forward it to abuse@almanar.com.kw

Looking out for children

We do not knowingly market to or solicit information from children under 18 without parental consent. We recognize that protecting children's identities and privacy online is important and that the responsibility to do so rests with both the online industry and with parents. While AL Manar works to protect your personal information, you also have responsibility.

·         Internet safety for children. The Internet is a public network. Children's access to the Internet can allow them to visit inappropriate Web sites and be expos to unwanted risks. Parents can be proactive by installing filtering software that gives them more control over their family's Internet experience.

·         Cyber ethics for children. Cyber ethics is the practice of being a good citizen on the Internet superhighway. Kids should understand the rules of the road, too.

Changes to the Online Practices Privacy Policy

If we make changes to the Online Practices Privacy Policy or make any material changes to our online services, we will revise the Online Practices Privacy Policy to reflect such changes and revise the policy's effective date.

Yes. You can use Online Payment from anywhere in the world as long as you have a connection to the Internet and a supported Internet browser.

How do I print statements and other information in Online Payment?

Because different Internet browsers and browser versions have different options for printing frames, consult your Internet browser Help files to determine the best method for printing. Some print options have been included within Online Payment to assist you with printing.

What measure do you use for Online Payment security?

Online Payment uses several different methods to protect your information:

All information within Online Payment uses the SSL (Secure Socket Layer) protocol for transferring data. SSL is encryption that creates a secure environment for the information being transfer between your browser and AL Manar.

At a high level, SSL uses public key cryptography to secure transmissions over the Internet. In practice, your browser will send a message via SSL to the company’s server. The company responds by sending a certificate, which contains the company's public key. Your browser authenticates the certificate (agrees that the server is in fact AL Manar), then generates a random session key which is used to encrypt data traveling between your browser and the company's server. This session key is encrypted using the AL Manar public key and sent back to the server. AL Manar decrypts this message using its private key, and then uses the session key for the remainder of the communication.

Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protects data in three keyways:

·         Authentication ensures that you are communicating with the correct server. This prevents another computer from impersonating AL Manar website.

·         Encryption scrambles transferred data.

·         Data integrity verifies that the information sent by you to AL Manar was not altered during the transfer. The system detects if data was added or deleted after you sent the message. If any tampering has occurred, the connection is dropped.

Is Online Payment secure?

Yes. AL Manar is committed to safe Internet Payment and Online Payment security to provide you with peace of mind when you access your account information. To ensure the security of your account information, Online Payment also uses 256-bit SSL encryption.

To help protect your privacy while you are using the service, we will sign you out of the Online Payment service after 10 minutes of inactivity.

Learn how you can help to keep your information secure.

What does SSL mean?

SSL stands for Secure Socket Layer. This technology allows users to establish sessions with Internet sites that are secure, meaning they have minimal risk of external violation. Once inside the Online Payment site, you are secure through our use of SSL technology.

What is encryption?

Encryption is the scrambling of information for transmission back and forth between two points. A key is required to decode the information. When you request information about your accounts, the request is sent encrypted to AL Manar. We then decode your request for information and send it back to you in an encrypted format. When you receive it, your information will be decoded so that you can read it. Because your account information being transmitted between you and AL Manar, encryption protects your account information, so it cannot be intercepted and read by a third party.

What is 256-bit encryption?

256-bit encryption is a data/file encryption technique that uses a 256-bit key to encrypt and decrypt data or files.

It is one of the most secure encryption methods after 128- and 192-bit encryption, and is used in most modern encryption algorithms, protocols and technologies including AES and SSL

256-bit encryption is referring to the length of the encryption key used to encrypt a data stream or file. A hacker will require 2256 different combinations to break a 256-bit encrypted message, which is virtually impossible to be broken by even the fastest computers.

Typically, 256-bit encryption is used for data in transit, or data traveling over a network or Internet connection. However, it is also implemented for sensitive and important data such as financial, military or government-owned data.

AL Manar uses the 256-bit to ensure your online transmissions are secure.

What is an Extended Validation SSL Certificate?

An Extended Validation SSL Certificate is an added layer of security to help protect your private information when transmitted online. When you use any internet browser to go to a secure web site, an Extended Validation SSL Certificate will cause the address bar of your browser to turn green. A display in the green bar will visually verify that the site is secure and encrypt the data you submit. If the site is unknown, a yellow address bar will be displayed indicating you should proceed with caution. If you are on a site that has been recognized as dangerous, a red address bar will display.

Other browsers and older versions of Internet Explorer will display Extended Validation SSL Certificates with the same security symbols as existing SSL Certificates (lock icon).
